Interest Groups

We have over 50 Groups that are organised and arranged by members according to their interests. They share the experiences and knowledge of group members and follow the u3a principle  "Those who learn shall also teach and those who teach shall also learn".

After 2 1/2 years, Barry has decided to step down as leader of the World Religions Group.  Sadly, if no-one else feels able to pick up the baton this Group will now have to close.

On behalf of the Committee and all u3a members I would like to take this opportunity to thank Barry and Denise for all their hard work,  inspiring talks and visits whilst running this Group.  

We are delighted that Barry will continue to lead the Art 2 group and Denise the Rummikub 1 and What the Papers Say groups, as well as continuing to coordinate our Events & Outings - including this year's Christmas Lunch!  

We alll appreciate the dedication they have both shown for many years and continue to offer to Bushey & District u3a .  Thak you Barry and Denise from us all.

Please remember to carry your u3a membership card with you whenever you attend our monthly meetings, your interest group or an outing and please keep an ICE (in case of emergency) contact number with your card, so that we can call a friend or relative if a problem should arise.

To join an existing group you must be a current member of Bushey & District u3a.  Our groups have been set up primarily by and for our own members, (with the exception ofone or two long-standing groups which were established and are run jointly with a neighbouring u3a).  We may also occasionally combine with or invite members of another local u3a to participate in a specific outing or event - if we have spaces available after our own members have had an opportunity to book their places.

To start a new group: If your area of interest is not shown or the group you would like to join is full, why not start a new group?  You do not have to be an expert in your special interest and there may well be other members happy to join and help you, but who do not have the confidence to start a new group themselves!  We also have access to the national u3a subject advisers on many topics who have specialist knowledge and  resources.  Our Interest Groups Coordinator (IGC) and other Committee members will be pleased to provide advice and support to get you started. The Interest Group Coordinator's e-mail link can be found on the Contact page.
